Two Shining Lights

This week I had 2 students who made great choices! Te'Mar and Makenzie both shared with friends, made good choices and worked hard! Congrats!

Rainbows & Syllables

On Friday we practiced fine motor and pattern skills as we created rainbows! The kids did a great job and had fun putting their rainbows together!

This week we practiced counting syllables. Here is a link to a game we played to help up break apart words into syllables!

As usual, I'll add it on my website of educational games.

Butterflies!

The Butterflies the children received from our field trip to Oakland Mall hatched from their chrysalis over break. Today we released them outside at recess. The kids were excited to see them fly and say, "Good Bye!"

In math today we practiced putting numbers in order. We also played this cool number order game, that happens to have caterpillars and butterflies!

I added the game to my website of differentiated games.

New Glasses & A New Game

Today Te'Mar got his first pair of glasses. The class was so excited because now we have 4 students with glasses! We had to take a picture!

Also, today we played a new game to reinforce addition skills. I LOVE this game because it has pictures for each number. Remember: in kindergarten, students should not be memorizing addition facts. It's OK to count on fingers. In kindergarten, when we are learning addition, we are learning about what it means to add and what it looks like visually to put different amounts together. That is why I often write on home to "draw out" the problems.
