On Thursday, we had our March is Reading Month Book Walk. The students who participated did a great job sharing about their book with students and parents from our school! After, we walked around and learned about the books the first grade students read.
Keep up to date with what's going on in Mrs. Woolsey's kindergarten class at University Prep Elementary!

Shining Light & New Math Games
Congrats Marek! He had an amazing week and was our Shining Light today. He followed directions and kept on task all week! Keep up the good work!
I added a few new games to my webpage of differentiated kindergarten games. We played them before in class so the students know how to use them.
Here are the games we played today that went along with our 10's and 1's math lesson.

Important Dates for the Week
- On Monday, March 12th, Milestone #2 will be coming home. Milestone #2 is 5 facts about your child's topic. The facts must be written out by the student in sentences and with child friendly words. Milestone #2 is due on Thursday March 22nd. I am sending this home so soon so that you and your child can spend time working on this. As a goal, try to have your student write 1 fact each night so that you are both not overwhelmed. If you lose this form before it is due, have your student write out his or her 5 facts on paper from home.
- On Wednesday, March 14th I will be out of the classroom at a conference about Differentiated Instruction. I am excited to learn more about this area of education that helps a teacher cater to each child's individual learning needs.
- There is no school on Friday, March 16th.
A Busy Friday
Here are some pictures from the All School Read-In and Surprise Flash Mob!
This week we learned about the term, "half" in math. On Thursday we split blocks into two equal groups. ON Friday we broke graham crackers into half, two equal groups with a buddy.
And finally on Friday, Mahdi was our shining light! He is a good friend to all the students in our room! Great job Mahdi!
Read-In Flash Mob!
On Friday during our all school read in the students surprised all the teachers with a flash mob! They were practicing songs about reading in music class for the last 4 weeks secretly! Check out the video!

Eating 3-D Shapes
Sorry I haven't updated in a while! Here are some pictures from last Friday. After playing a game where we guessed 3D shapes by the way they feel we ate foods that are the same 3D shapes! The kids really enjoyed this math activity!
A marshmallow is a cylinder!
A caramel is a cube!
A Whopper is a sphere!
Bugles are cones!
The cookie is a rectangular prism!
