Previous Exhibition Boards

Today in the note I sent home I said I would post pictures of excellent exhibition boards from my previous classes to help give a visual to parents of what I am looking for. Remember these are first grade students- they had a requirements of 10 facts. We have a requirement of 3 facts.

Matthew put together a great board about Cedar Point. He wrote out the facts he learned about the Theme Park and included pictures he explained to the class.

Makayla put together an excellent board about New York. She cut out and colored her pictures. She was able to explain all the pictures on her board. She decorated the board herself. The only thing I would ask is for students not to type out their facts, but to write them out by hand.

Jalen made an amazing poster about Chicago. He cut out and glued his pictures. He wrote out his facts by hand. His facts went with each picture on his board so he was able to explain all his pictures.

This is Jeremiah's super presentation about Michael Jordan. He cut out and glued his own pictures. Wrote out his facts and even brought in a basketball net as part of his board.

Jude's board about John Cena was wonderful. He wrote out all his facts, and was able to explain the pictures he glued to his board! He even wore his wrestling belt for his presentation!

One more from Matthew! Again, he has pictures that go with his facts. His facts are written out by hand.

  • As I stated in the note today, PLEASE let me know if there is anything you need to help your student complete his or her board.
  • The students above did most of the work on their boards and I can tell spent more than one night working on it.
  • If you have any questions or are confused by anything I've stated, please let me know asap. I want to help your student feel confident and successful during their first exhibition!

Weather

As the weather is steadily getting colder, I have noticed that not all the students are equipped for recess and dismissal. Please make sure that your student has a hat, scarf, gloves and a heavy coat to wear to school. Please make sure that the young ladies are wearing thicker tights.

Thank you!

A Message From Ms. K's Technology Class

It’s NOT Just Play!

Dear Kindergarten & 1st grade family and friends-

If you talk to your students you might hear that they play games in my class.  This is only PARTIALLY true!!

While students are playing online games, they are also learning about the Internet.  While playing these games they have also learned: how to close a window, double click, use previous page arrow, and start a memory search in the address bar.  On top of all of that they are also learning how to use fine motor skills using the internal mouse; which really helps all of their teachers during MAP testing.

We've learned about the arrow keys, space bar, delete, and enter/return key, volume up/down, and mute.  They know how to make capital and lower case letters using the caps lock.

They are also exercising decision making (by choosing the game they play on the website)- they are learning a variety core academic skills such as; following directions, letters, shapes, rules, matching, memory games, chronological order, science, social studies, reading, and other cool things!!

Pbskids.org is the site they have been using and next week they will start using BBC kids
