A Message From Ms. K's Technology Class

It’s NOT Just Play!

Dear Kindergarten & 1st grade family and friends-

If you talk to your students you might hear that they play games in my class.  This is only PARTIALLY true!!

While students are playing online games, they are also learning about the Internet.  While playing these games they have also learned: how to close a window, double click, use previous page arrow, and start a memory search in the address bar.  On top of all of that they are also learning how to use fine motor skills using the internal mouse; which really helps all of their teachers during MAP testing.

We've learned about the arrow keys, space bar, delete, and enter/return key, volume up/down, and mute.  They know how to make capital and lower case letters using the caps lock.

They are also exercising decision making (by choosing the game they play on the website)- they are learning a variety core academic skills such as; following directions, letters, shapes, rules, matching, memory games, chronological order, science, social studies, reading, and other cool things!!

Pbskids.org is the site they have been using and next week they will start using BBC kids
